  • November Terabyte Tuesday – 1.1 TB of Usenet for $40

Tuesday, November 13, 2012

It’s time once again for the most exciting day in usenet… Terabyte Tuesday is back!

Terabyte Tuesday is the one-day sale where NGD offer 1.1 Terabyte usenet accounts for $40 ($100 is the normal rate)! Their 1 TB block account includes a 10% header allowance, bringing the total to 1.1 TB.

The sale runs from 12 AM EST on November 13 until 12 AM EST on November 14.

NewsgroupDirect blocks never expire, so you can buy as many blocks as you want and never worry about losing them.

  • GIBInews have to close service

Sunday, November 11, 2012

From Gibinews: "GIBInews have to close his door. Our servers should already be shutdown (or very soon..). New offers don't enjoy people, new provider don't want to increase our speed as we pay them too low (even with the price increase, it's still not enough to get back to normal). We tried to find a solution with the provider but nothing was found.Next week, we will shut the compagny. No more access will available. Our debt are too big to expect a refund for everyone. We are sincerely sorry about all that mess.We will try to answer to everyone on twitter/mail as soon as possible."

Their problem was they were never a Back-end Usenet Provider but a tiny Usenet Service Provider. You should always choose an established company that has existed for a few years.

That's why we always recommend a Back-end Usenet Provider. They have their own servers, control their network themselves and sell on part of their network to resellers. They are independent and not a reseller.

We would personally choose Giganews or Newshosting !!!

Usenet Providers Having Problems With PayPal ?

In the last 10 months, some USP's had problems with Paypal

- Ngroups.Net: Since February 2012, Ngroups has stopped accepting Paypal. However you can use Moneybookers/Skrill and also Amazon payments

- Astraweb: In March 2012, Astraweb have re-enabled Paypal. During one month Paypal was unavailable

- Newsdemon: Some groups are not available with Paypal. If you pay for newsgroup access through Newsdemon using Paypal, you will not get the same number of groups you would get using a credit card.

- SunnyUsenet: They removed Paypal during One month (October 2012). SunnyUsenet is now accepting paypal. Just select credit card and the credit card processor offers paypal as an option

- UsenetStorm: PayPal have frozen their account so they're unable to accept new members until they find an alternative.

- HitNews: Looks like they removed the option for PayPal

  • SunnyUsenet no longer accepts Paypal

Monday, October 1, 2012

The low-cost SunnyUsenet will no longer accept Paypal as a payment method. This will severely restrict their users when they come to renew or start an account for the first time.

For this reason, we would advise XSUsenet as a suitable alternative.

It differs from SunnyUsenet in that it is slightly more expensive but Paypal is available.

Everything else is similar: the same retention (900 days binary) , the same reseller: Euroaccess, Same location of servers in Holland: European- based Usenet providers

In the case of XSUsenet the annual fee is only 60.89€ (Which works out to 5 € a month)

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

SABnzbd is an Open Source Binary Newsreader written in Python.

It's totally free, incredibly easy to use, and works practically everywhere. SABnzbd makes Usenet as simple and streamlined as possible by automating everything we can. All you have to do is add an .nzb. SABnzbd takes over from there, where it will be automatically downloaded, verified, repaired, extracted and filed away with zero human interaction.

Fixes in 0.7.2

  • Improve support for nzbsrus.com
  • Don't try to show NZB age when not known yet
  • Prevent systems with unresolvable hostnames from always using 0.0.0.0
  • Initial "quota left" was not set correctly when enabling quota
